Why do seemingly intelligent people procrastinate? Are there really hidden patterns and belief systems within us that conspire against our best intentions? In this talk, human behaviour expert, Peter Sage, exposes some of the hidden reasons and unconscious patterns that cause us to self-sabotage and explains what we can do to change them.

It’s not just dads words that cause that long term subconscious effect it’s also every character on a cartoon or tv show or movie or video game! Literally everything around that kid will mold and change him or her. Including strangers.

5:15, 7:00 ( subconscious programming...a metaphor), 8:20 10:08** 95% law, law of conformity 10:30....how do we turn it around? 11:15 1) Stop putting the wrong things in. The body and the minds job is to adapt! Put healthy input into your mind, focus on healthy eating and exercise. Don't watch the news ( 12:05 it's geared towards negativity, it's brain washing.) Love your family, choose your friends. 2) Start putting the right things in. Expose yourself to things that supports your potential and growth such as inspirational quotes, videos, books, stories, interviews. Find your inspirational people such as mentors, interests and activities. 14:30 3) Get the things that shouldn't be in your mind out! Find mentors, coaches, therapists etc that know how to navigate the minefield of human behaviour and the mind, you have to go deep in order to start addressing the subconscious programming and start reprogramming your mind towards a healthy more successful state of mind. You need to know what's really wrong to be able to fix it. Self mastery is the number one recommendation in order to retain your inner core no matter what's happening around you. You get to become your best version and if you change your inner world, the world outside you changes 15:16

I think the answer is simpler: we don't have a good "connection" with ourselves and our goals let alone people in our lives. We just do many things without REALLY thinking about them. WHAT WE NEED is to spend some time with ourselves everyday planning the next day. That's the first step. We don't need a notebook, mobile, nothing.. just a broad visualisation of who you are and what you'll do tomorrow. Make that connection. Countless of my students have found this working better than different MODELS and STEPS and other complicated ways.. JUST have a walk and visualise. You'll also move a bit that will release the right hormones for you to have a positive connection with the next day's purpose!! Best of luck guys!!

Because it’s a highly, highly common pattern. Start with an answer that is simple enough to believe in, no matter how complex a life problem or obstacle is. Or else you’ll think you can’t change a damned thing about your situation. Make sense?

This is great advice for embracing all the possibilities. However, I'd be wrong to think that living across the street from an ice-skating rink when I was a kid wasn't a factor in me being the fastest skater. Individualist ideology can lead to blaming people for being poor, etc. I left my family because they chose to reinforce each other's bigotries.

There's a big difference between "anyone can succeed" and "everyone can succeed" To suggest that most people simply need to get better at conscious decision making ignores the many massive economic systems in place that prevent upward mobility for anyone under the 1st percentile of net worth. Past that point, you can increase your own net worth using those exact same systems to extract money from those under you with very little effort. It's much harder to fail and the consequences for failing are much lower. 1 out of 100,000 can escape first world poverty, but if you want that number to increase, effort and creating value needs to be incentivized and rent-seeking behavior that creates no value and requires no effort needs to be disincentivized.

I feel the impulse to cry as his words affected the entire trajectory of my life. More often than not these days I see that those words couldn’t have been further from the truth and tears well up as I acknowledge this fact.
